CKP is know at last - the man behind CPK168.com

CKP or willie fong is known at last , whose advice in his blog at CKP168.com are highly regarded since he is the one who supported Geograce mining or GEO at Philippine Stock Exchange and it indeed rise during the stock market boom of 2007. A lot of people earned and lost on this stock. But the sad news is that he is currently comatosed. Who will now help manage GEO ?

Willie Fong, a 51-year-old businessman who, like many in his profession, is nuts about basketball, was tapped some months ago by the national women’s junior basketball team for financial help.

The young cagebelles were scheduled to compete in the FIBA Asia Under 18 Championship for Women, scheduled Nov. 2 to 9 this year in Medan, Indonesia, and they needed additional support for the daunting task ahead.

Willie, a finance expert involved in the stock market, did not hesitate to help. He said he may not be in the Forbes list of the country’s 40 wealthiest, but he was willing to contribute in any way he can, like augmenting the players’ meager allowance and providing for their uniforms.

Willie didn’t mind if his contributions would be reciprocated or not. He said a mere “thank you” would be enough.

Still, to show the girls’ appreciation to Willie, a proposal to put a small logo of his company on the uniform was presented to the team manager.

When it was turned down, the sponsorship was no longer pursued since it would be unfair for Willie not to get any kind of exposure in return.

Very recently, the girls’ team again found themselves in dire need of Willie’s assistance.

But even before they could touch base with their would-be sponsor, they received word that Willie had been incommunicado for more than a week.

It was Mikee Romero who broke the news that Willie had been comatose since Sept. 28 and is now confined at the intensive care unit of the Cardinal Santos Hospital in Greenhills, San Juan City.

Mikee played basketball with Willie in various leagues and it was in one of the league games that Willie collapsed.

According to reports, Willie lost consciousness after playing competitive basketball for three straight days.

Former Sta. Lucia Realty head coach Adonis Tierra, now the coach of the CKP team owned by Willie, was with him when the incident occurred at the Xavier Gym in Greenhills the other Sunday.

Adonis said they carried Willie to a chair after he fell to the floor.

“He even managed to smile, that’s why we thought he was already okay,” Adonis related.

“But then he had another seizure and completely lost consciousness. We rushed him to the nearest hospital, the Cardinal Santos, which was less than five minutes away.”

Willie was already clinically dead when he reached the hospital. He had no pulse, no heartbeat, no blood pressure and the monitor plugged to him registered a flatline.

The emergency room staff immediately got into action. They gave him a shot of epinephrine, performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on him and pumped on his chest to revive him.

Faintly, the pulse returned and the heart started to beat again. Willie was alive again.

He continued to stay unconscious, though.

Last Monday, Adonis dropped by the hospital to visit Willie on his ninth day of confinement.

“Although he was unconscious, I greeted him with a loud voice, asking how he was,” Adonis said. “His hand moved when I held it and his mouth quivered as if he wanted to speak. His wife Maita said the doctors still couldn’t pinpoint the cause of the attack, although he complained of mild palpitations before the incident. She said they ruled out a stroke.”

And because the cause was unknown, no prognosis could be given either.

Willie’s CKP teams were very active in various leagues, which include the PICAA and the MBT (Metro Basketball Tournament).

Many former amateur standouts who are now in the professional league like Jason Castro, Beau Belga, Jeff Chan and Chad Alonso have played for CKP.
